Watermark Credit Union Helping To Bring Financial Education To Students
Seattle, Washington.....................................August 31, 2005
Watermark Credit Union has joined together with five other area credit unions in support of Credit University. Credit University is a new program established to teach financial education to high school students in the state of Washington.
Financial Education Consultant, Alicia Haus is the founder and facilitator of the program which she started after recognizing a need to bring credit and consumer education into Washington State high schools. Credit University's seminars cover topics dealing with establishing and maintaining good credit, the importance of saving and investing, steps to protect against identity fraud, and the services credit unions have to offer.
Credit University is expected to reach an estimated 8,000 students in one year. The financial knowledge that will be gained by this program is more important than ever for students heading to college and facing new financial issues for the first time.
Watermark Credit Union is encouraged by the cooperative effort of the participating credit unions to bring Credit University to area students.
Watermark Credit Union has over 70,000 members* and assets of approximately $450,000,000. It has offices in downtown Seattle, Southcenter, Lynnwood, Redmond, and Bellevue.
*Any Washington State resident is eligible to join Watermark Credit Union.
