One day over breakfast in the late 1930s, a small
group of telephone company workers led by Mr. Ted Baer discussed the growing credit union movement. The idea that people united by common bond could form a lending society appealed to the workers who had witnessed the stock market crash of 1929 and the resulting bank failures.
On May 23, 1938 Seattle Telco Credit Union was formed to serve the employees of Pacific Telephone & Telegraph of King County. When the charter changed in 2001 allowing anyone living in Washington State to be a member, the name changed to Watermark Credit Union. Today, Watermark is a community credit union serving more than 72,000 members.
Over the past 70 years, the credit union helped thousands of members reach their goals. As a member-owner of the credit union, your success is our success, whether your goal is large or small we want to hear your story. How are you making your mark? Tell us how your membership has helped you reach your goals.
